Jul 24, 2002 · SOO LINE EMD FP-7 # 500: This beautifully-preserved locomotive, built in November of 1949 by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors (EMD), is displayed just off highway 27, on the south side of Ladysmith Wisconsin.

The Soo Line Railroad (reporting mark SOO) is one of the primary United States railroad subsidiaries for the CPKC Railway (reporting mark CPKC), one of six U.S. Class I railroads, controlled through the Soo Line Corporation.

Dec 3, 2024 · Built by EMD as Milwaukee Road SD7 #2200 (4/1952), renumbered to MILW #500. Rebuilt and upgraded to SD10 standards (7/1974) and renumbered to MILW #559. Acquired by SOO through merger (1985). Unit was to become SOO #6118 but never applied.

Displayed at Ladysmith, WI, Soo Line 500A was originally EMDX 9051, the FP7A demonstrator.
