Steyr Maadi vs. Kassnar SA85M underfolder | AK Rifles
Nov 22, 2022 · Which would you rather own as a collectors piece? I found a used Steyr Maadi at an estate sale. Grand asking price? $1000 firm. I couldn't get to the bank fast enough. I love the SA85M and own two KBIs and one Kassnar. I have the opportunity to trade for an unfired SA85M underfolder plus 2K cash for the Egyptian. What's says you?
“Maadis are the closest to Soviet – made on Soviet tooling!”
Aug 27, 2010 · In truth, Maadis actually are pretty similar to Tula, but not identical. Here I compare barrel components and trunions to get to the truth. You be the judge. Enjoy! Though similar on the sides, the Maadi has rougher machining. You could almost land a hang glider on the flat spot on top of the Maadi.
Maadi or Norinco? | Gunboards Forums
Sep 28, 2011 · I will admit that the Maadi is a truer copy of the Russian AK and probably better fit and finished as well. But when it comes to being a better combat weapon, I would choose the Norinco. I have heard all the arguments that the Chinese used softer steel and rivets and that is why had to be made thicker, but it's poppycock.
MAK-90 or SA-85M? - AR15.COM
Jan 16, 2015 · Gentlemen, I have enough money to buy either a MAK-90 or a SA-85M but not both. My understanding is they are considered high quality. This is what I know some far: The Norinco MAK-90 is Chinese, milled (1.5) and there are two variants: straight and angled cut. The angled cut is very limited to stock and muzzle device options.
What is the BEST AK-47 - Texas Gun Talk
Dec 7, 2015 · If you can find a ban era FEG(Hungarian)SA85, Arsenal SLR95 or Egyptian Maadi and have it returned to its pre ban glory they are good rifles and a decent value. The Yugoslavian MB70(fixed stock) and MB70A2(underfolder) are good rifles, especially if you can find an earlier Zastava marked rifle with a good original barrel.

Debanning a Hungarian SA-85M - Northeastshooters.com Forums
Feb 23, 2013 · I picked up my second AK this weekend, another Hungarian SA-85M. This one is a post-ban KBI import complete with the ban era thumbhole stock. My plan was to make a "modernized" AK with polymer furniture and a sight mounted optic using a WASR but I found this Hungarian and had to get it as a younger sibling to my Kassnar import underfolder.
Maadi quality vs other Variants | AK Rifles
Jun 4, 2008 · I am looking at buying a pre-ban Maadi. 1. How does the Maadi quality compare with other variants such as WASR, or Romanian, or others? 2. What are the advantages if any to buying a pre-ban gun? Does it not have to have the requisite US made parts to make it legal? Would it be better to buy a "no-ban" gun? If so what is it? 3.
Egyptian Maadi Ak47 Guide > Egyptian - AR15.COM
Jun 18, 2012 · One of the only semi-automatic Kalashnikov imported into the United States, in almost every regard, an exact duplicate of the Russian AKM. During the 1950’s the Soviet Union, as part of its military aid program, established the production of Soviet-pattern small arms in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Romanian vs. Maadi vs. Norinco - AR15.COM
Nov 26, 2002 · Overall, the Chinese guns are better finished than the Maadi. However, there are significant variations between the guns. For instance, my folding stock Norinco is almost commercial quality in finish. The weld spots on the reciever are so perfect, they're almost decorative in appearance.
