Laurel Falls trail is one of the most popular trails in the park as it's a short, paved and easy hike to the falls. It’s only a few miles from Sugarlands Visitor Center, right outside Gatlinburg.

Crowded but very pleasant short hike. This trail is fairly easy, you go about 1 mile up hill (not too steep/easy), and the last 0.3 miles you go down hill into the waterfall, it is beautiful, and simple. Great area to take pictures! You also get a great view of the second waterfall (lower). The scenery is very beautiful, lots of different plants.

The Laurel Falls trail lacks a bit of the charm that others in the Great Smoky Mountain offer simply by virtue of it being partially paved. The tar is sufficiently aged so that it no longer qualifies as handicap accessible, but it’s not a clean dirt trail either.
