Spartanburg Methodist College is a private, non-profit college offering associate degree and bachelor's degree programs on-campus and online. It was founded in 1911 as one the country's first work-study colleges and is open to students of all religious and non-religious backgrounds.

Since 1911, Spartanburg Methodist College has led the way in innovation in higher education. Early in our history, we launched the first cooperative education program in the country, and, today we are South Carolina’s only two-year, independent, residential college.

Spartanburg Methodist College offers a variety of educational programs to suit both the needs of the traditional college student and of the non-traditional working adult. The college is led by a Board of Trustees comprising 24 members, with six clergy members and 18 laity.
