It has been cold across the Southeast over the past few days, and this cold air will persist through the end of the workweek. With temperatures 10 to 20 degrees below average and a storm system on the way,

Extensive flight cancellations and highway delays are likely as a major winter storm blankets the southeastern United States

The timeframe would be Thursday morning into Friday with snow and ice being the main concern for areas north of Houston.

With the Midwest and mid-Alantic still digging out from a major winter storm, another one is forecast to sweep across the South and eastern United States this week, bringing snow, sleet and freezing rain from Texas through the Carolinas.

Before the first full week of January comes to an end, Texas will get hit by severe wintry weather and then that storm could move in one of two ways through the East Coast.
