House Speaker Mike Johnson reportedly warned Republican lawmakers against subpoenaing the phone records of key Jan. 6 witness Cassidy Hutchinson, saying doing so could reveal “sexual texts” that might embarrass some of his colleagues.

The move was intended in part to prevent the release of sexually explicit texts that lawmakers sent Cassidy Hutchinson.

The Washington Post reports that Republicans avoided subpoenaing Mark Meadows' former Chief of Staff Cassidy Hutchinson last year to avoid the embarrassing fallout of her testimony. An aide to House Speaker Mike Johnson worried Hutchinson could bring up sexually explicit texts from GOP representatives.
