GARDA COMMISSIONER DREW Harris has said that, in “hindsight”, the decision to stand down the public order unit on the morning of one day of the Coolock riots was not the right one.

In retrospect, the Garda Commissioner stated that it was a bad idea to disband the Garda National Public Order Unit at 7 a.m. in Coolock, Dublin, prior to riots there in July of last year, reports RTE.

The Garda Commissioner has said that the decision to stand down the Garda National Public Order Unit at 7am in Coolock in Dublin before disturbances there last July was not the right decision in hindsight.
