New York firefighter accused of intentionally setting brush fire on Long Island
A volunteer firefighter on Long Island, New York, was arrested Tuesday after he intentionally started a brush fire, authorities said. Jonathan Quiles, of the Medford Fire Department, set a fire in a wooded area on Mount Vernon Avenue in Medford on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police alleged in a news release.

The arrest comes after a string of brush fires were reported in the New York and New Jersey areas. Approximately six fires were reported on Tuesday in the Medford area of Long Island, per NBC News. One fire last week was set in Brooklyn's Prospect Park.
