Race and sex will no longer be considered in military promotions and academy admissions as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth moves to weed out diversity and equity-based programs across the U.S. military.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is establishing a new task force to root out efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the US military — policies he has derided as “woke” and contrary to the Pentagon’s mission of readiness and lethality.

A new Defense Department task force will look for ways to further limit diversity and inclusion programs throughout military training and advancement.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on Wednesday said he was creating a special internal agency to establish merit-based and color-blind policies throughout the Defense Department, including those dealing with military promotions and duty assignments.
