The restaurant chains hiked prices for menu items containing eggs earlier this year as shortages from to bird flu outbreaks pushed the cost of a dozen eggs to a record high in March.

Waffle House customers no longer have to pay extra for eggs. The 2,000-unit breakfast chain on Monday announced that it has lifted its 50-cent per-egg surcharge, which it instituted in February to help manage sky-high egg prices.

Waffle House has dropped its 50 cent surcharge on eggs as supplies rebound. The chain added the temporary charge in February, when avian flu sent egg prices to record highs.
