An officer was hospitalized and police were searching for one person after a shooting Thursday morning in southwest Houston, officials said. Officials with the Houston Police Department provided limited details about the shooting on Twitter, saying preliminary information was that someone had shot an officer from another agency and fled on foot.

A manhunt continues for the repeat violent offender who shot and killed a deputy serving a warrant Wednesday afternoon, Houston police say.

Gibson was fatally shot in the chest around 11:19 p.m. while inside her home on the corner of the 300 block of Hummel Street, next to Swatara Street. Police said someone shooting from the street killed Gibson. She was not believed to be the intended target.
