Galactus is played in Fantastic Four: First Steps by British actor Ralph Ineson. The star has come a long way since playing David Brent's obnoxious friend Chris Finch in The Office (UK), with acclaimed turns in Game of Thrones, Chernobyl and Robert Eggers' The Witch bringing him to Hollywood's attention.

Galactus is aided by his shiny, chrome herald, the Silver Surfer. Previously seen onscreen in the 2007 movie, played by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne, is the male version of the character, Norrin Radd. Now, Ozark star Garner is playing the first-ever live-action version of Shalla-Bal.

First Steps avoids the worst MCU habits, embraces classic family values, and aims high with cosmic stakes—but familiar missteps in the final act diminish what could have been.
