Marcus Lemonis, Bed Bath & Beyond Executive Chairman said in a statement issued Aug. 20 that the company will not open a brick-and-mortar location in California. Lemonis said that the state, home to over 39 million people, will be served solely through delivery.

Bed Bath and Beyond executive chairman Marcus Lemonis said he won't reopen retail stores in California, taking a shot at Gov. Gavin Newsom and calling the state a risky environment for business.

Bed Bath & Beyond, once a dominant home goods retailer, filed for bankruptcy in 2023 after years of declining sales and mounting debt.
