Flash floods in Ruidoso on Thursday prompted swift water rescues again, which saved several people caught stranded in their homes in Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs. A devastating flood in Ruidoso last week left a man and two children in Ruidoso dead.

The National Weather Service reported multiple people had to be rescued from floodwaters in Ruidoso on Thursday afternoon.

In Ruidoso, a community effort is helping buy school supplies for families affected by last week’s catastrophic flooding. There are local drop-off sites for donations, and those outside the area can help by either purchasing supplies or donating money to a designated fund.

The Village of Ruidoso confirmed three deaths as a result of severe flash flooding on July 8, 2025 along the burn scars from last summer's wild fires.
