World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler looked much like the world No. 1 Thursday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as he effectively navigated his way through Spyglass Hill en route to a 5-under 67 in his first round of the 2025 PGA Tour season.

Scheffler, in a 2025 debut delayed by minor surgery on his right hand for a freak puncture wound while making ravioli, ran off three straight birdies, including a shot to 2 feet on the tough eighth hole. That was the last of his birdies, but it was the par that saved him.

Consistency overcomes almost all of golf’s obstacles. Sepp Straka is providing a stellar example through two rounds of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Shooting his second straight 65, Straka had eight birdies Friday at Pebble Beach Golf Links and holds a three-shot lead halfway through the tournament’s 84th edition.
