Cinephiles love to debate their favorite cinematic decades and will find plenty of evidence to back up their claims. But when it comes to the weirdest ten-year run in movies, the 1980s are the uncontested champs.

CEO Ted Sarandos revealed in a recent Instagram post that the late, great filmmaker David Lynch was in the process of creating a new limited series for the streaming giant before his untimely passing.

With the passing of beloved director David Lynch, many of the actors he worked with – along with countless staunch admirers – have shared emotional tributes and testaments to his legacy.

Alicia Witt, who played young Alia Atreides in Dune took to Instagram: Isabella Rossellini, whose breakout role was in Lynch’s 1986 cult classic Blue Velvet and was in a romantic relationship with Lynch until 1991 had a simple, devistating message to share:

He will be remembered for his classics, but also because he was the first to direct Dune, a film with which he was shipwrecked.

David Lynch, the writer-filmmaker whose works include Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks, has died aged 78. Lynch's death was announced on his Facebook page by his family. "There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us," the post said.

Kyle MacLachlan, Naomi Watts, Isabella Rossellini and other collaborators of David Lynch mourned the filmmaker's death on social media.
