Vasily Podkolzin and Jeff Skinner scored in the first 5 1/2 minutes and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Seattle Kraken 4-2 on Saturday night for their third straight victory.

Two forward lines for Seattle did net positive results. In 9:40 of ice time, Shane Wright, Eeli Tolvanen and Oliver Bjorkstrand were plus-5 in shot attempts and created 92.2-percent of all shot quality.

Edmonton wasted no time either, instantly hitting its stride from the moment the lights when back on. Vasily Podkolzin netted his fourth of the campaign at 0:57 by ripping a one-timer off a Leon Draisaitl pass. It was the culmination of a play by which the Oilers easily gave the Kraken’s defence the slip.

Chandler Stephenson finally provided an on-ice reason to cheer beating former Seattle Thunderbirds goalie Calvin Pickard 15:56 into the second period to pull within 3-1 on just the eighth shot of the game for the Kraken. It was Stephenson’s second straight game with a goal, continuing a strong recent stint from his line.
