Texas Democrats are preparing their final show of resistance against a mid-decade redraw of the state's congressional map.

Senate voted to approve a controversial, mid-decade redistricting bill that redraws the state’s congressional map in Republican’s favor. The new districts could give the GOP as many as five more seats in Congress after the 2026 midterm elections.

The map’s passage was a major victory in President Trump’s push to get Republican state leaders to help his party keep control of the U.S. House.

Republicans advanced the Texas redistricting plan, after weeks of Democrats breaking quorum, as the new map heads to Gov. Greg Abbott's desk for signature.
