The AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 NASCAR Cup Series race on July 20 at Dover Motor Speedway is back underway following a 58-minute weather delay for rain after 386 of 400 laps. Denny Hamlin is the leader as the field was stopped under a red flag due to rain with a scattered storm cell working across the Dover area.
The AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 was delayed by a fast-moving storm cell on Sunday, but the rain cleared out of Dover just as soon as it started up. It was heavy enough, however, to soak the track, so the race had to enter an extended delay while the track dried.
DOVER − The NASCAR Cup Series race at AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Dover Motor Speedway was delayed by rain with 14 laps remaining on July 20. The delay lasted 56 minutes as a storm moved quickly through the area. NASCAR officials set a drop-dead time of 8:10 p.m. because Dover doesn't have lights at the racetrack.
The rain has shown up once again at Dover Motor Speedway and put the NASCAR Cup Series race on hold for the time being. We have not gone to a red flag at the moment, but could see a stoppage if the rain picks up.
