Erin has rapidly intensified into a major hurricane. The storm officially became the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season on Friday. As of Saturday morning, Erin has become a Category 4 hurricane.

Hurricane Erin exploded in strength on Saturday, rapidly intensifying to a Category 4 storm with winds of 145 mph. The National Hurricane Center said that continued “rapid strengthening is expected today.”
