Junior doctors are now providing essential and emergency services but continue to boycott outpatient departments (OPDs).

Two Durga Puja committees in Kolkata declined the Rs 85,000 state grant as a protest against the alleged rape and murder of a doctor. They accused authorities of negligence and will use community funds for their celebrations.

Debashish Haldar, a prominent figure in West Bengal’s junior doctors’ protest, said they ‘remain hopeful for a formal written directive acknowledging our demands’, and will continue their cease work

Junior doctors in Bengal have decided to end their large-scale protest over the rape and murder of a fellow doctor at a hospital in Kolkata. They announced that they will return to work on Saturday, although with a condition: they will not participate in OPD services or attend elective operations.

Kolkata: The protesting junior doctors on Saturday had resumed emergency services at various government hospitals and also at flood affected areas. A team of 30 junior doctors from two different medical colleges visited the flooded areas and not just treatment they were also seen distributing dry foods to the affected people of the area.

The decision to partially end the cease work came on Thursday evening marking a major breakthrough in the 41-day impasse
