SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - As an area of low pressure continues to move away to the west, a ridge of high pressure is filling in over Florida. This ridge will bring with it very dry air, which starts to filter into the area during the day Friday.
Rain chances will decrease Friday and into the weekend, but as the rain subsides, temperatures will begin to rise significantly. Temperatures are expected to soar this weekend, with heat index values reaching between 105 and 110 degrees.
Temperatures will be hot, with highs near 90 along the coast and into the low to mid-90s inland. Heat index values will climb to around 105-110 on Thursday.
