The U.K. military has carried out a first successful test of a British-made "directed energy weapon" to down dozens of drones at once.

The British Army has successfully tested a Radiofrequency Directed Energy Weapon (RF DEW) that took out multiple swarms of drones simultaneously and near instantaneously using high-frequency radio waves at a cost of 10p (US$0.

It was a first for the RF-DEW directed energy weapon, with the UK MOD saying it had a "near-instant" effect on a swarm of small drones.
