Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is the latest Marvel series to arrive on Disney+, but is the animated show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is abuzz with speculation as rumors suggest Spider-Man 4 will introduce a new love interest for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. The report, initially shared by insider Daniel Richtman, has sparked excitement among fans eager to see the next chapter of Peter Parker’s story unfold.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is exclusive to Disney+, so you’ll need a subscription to stream the new show. Set in a universe slightly adjacent to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series begins as most Spider-Man stories do: Peter Parker (voiced by Hudson Thames) gets bitten by a spider. In this case, the spider comes through a portal that Doctor Strange has opened while fighting a monster during the show's opening sequence.

Head writer Jeff Trammell and supervising director Mel Zwyer pay homage to the early comics with a "moving comic" style in CG while introducing a surprising supporting cast.
