When Nintendo first unveiled the Switch 2 via a short teaser video in January, it felt the need to include a few seconds of footage of exactly one new video game running on the console: a new Mario Kart. This will be, numerically speaking, the ninth one, but it's very possible Nintendo calls it something other than Mario Kart 9.

It’s the dawn of the final day. On Wednesday, April 2, Nintendo promises to give its fans a closer look at Switch 2, the successor to its wildly popular portable-console hybrid. And while Nintendo is famously secretive and unpredictable, there’s a lot we already know about Switch 2.

Nintendo Direct presentation will be live-streamed at 9 a.m. EDT. A release date and price have yet to be announced, but Nintendo said earlier this year the console will hit the market in 2025.
