The GUID Partition Table (GPT) replaces the previous master boot record (MBR). GPT partitions can hold 18 exabytes compared to 2.2TB for the MBR.

I have a 2TB MBR drive w/ W7 in the 1st partition. Partitions 2 & 3 are used as separate storage. I want to xfer all of that to a 4TB GPT drive including resizing the 2nd & 3rd partitions.

We need to ensure that the partition style is a GUID Partition Table (GPT) or a Master Boot Record (MBR). For that, run list disk. Check if the “Gpt” column contains an asterisk (*).

The 2TB MBR is/was the Backup W7 Pro with only 7 installed programs (the Portables accessed like the other drive), both w/o hidden partitions and both with other partition (s).
