Airlines including United Airlines and Korean Air re-routed or cancelled flights and about a dozen Indian airports were shut on Wednesday after India struck nine sites in Pakistan, raising fears of an escalation.

FlightRadar data shows Pakistani airspace virtually deserted Wednesday as airlines avoided flying over the country.

Pakistan's airline industry has consistently struggled, and the government-owned Pakistan International Airlines registered its first annual profit in 21 years.
