Microsoft first released the Visual Studio Emulator for Android for Windows users last year, but during its event today promised that Mac users will also soon gain access.
Anyone having performance issues with the android emulator (assuming you're not targeting assembly code) try creating a new AVD with the CPU architecture set to x86.
The new tool is currently available in preview, but it comes with the Visual Studio 2015 preview, so to get the emulator you’ll have to download the full package from the Microsoft Download Center.
