Cameron Hamilton, the acting director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has been ousted from his position by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, a day after he told lawmakers in a hearing that he did not support eliminating his agency.

Pressed during a May 7 committee hearing about abolishing FEMA, acting administrator Cameron Hamilton said he opposes it. He was ousted the next day.

The administration replaced Cameron Hamilton as acting administrator of the embattled disaster response agency, which Trump has suggested dismantling.
