NEW YORK — There was bedlam at the U.S. Open Sunday night, when Daniil Medvedev’s 6-3, 7-5, 6-7 (5), 0-6, 6-4 defeat to Benjamin Bonzi was delayed for six minutes after a photographer prematurely entered the court.

It took a few extra hours, but Benjamin Bonzi pulled off the upset. After nearly blowing a two-sets-to-love lead, which was highlighted by a photographer inadvertently interrupting play with Bonzi serving for the match in the third set against No. 13 seed Daniil Medvedev, the Frenchman hung on in a dramatic fifth set.

Daniil Medvedev's match was delayed more than six minutes between points Sunday night, after a photographer entered the court on match point and the 2021 U.S. Open champion became enraged by the chair umpire's decision to award his opponent a first serve.
