A Winter Storm Watch was issued Wednesday afternoon and it will last through Saturday morning. The watch is for Piedmont and western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, and portions of northeast Georgia. “Well we have one more day to get ready, friends!” said Chief Meteorologist John Ahrens on Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch ahead of this weekend’s wintry mix of storms overnight Friday in our entire viewing area.

On Thursday at 3:27 a.m. the NWS Wakefield VA issued a winter storm watch valid from Friday 7 p.m. until Saturday 1 p.m.

Areas in the north Georgia mountains will see between 3-6 inches of snow with locally higher amounts possible farther north into the mountains. Snowfall totals of 1-2 inches will be common around I-20 with 0.1-0.25 inch of ice possible. The northern suburbs in metro Atlanta will see between 2-3 inches of snow.
