The first PGA Tour event of the year is over as The Sentry wrapped up from Kapalua Plantation, Maui, Hawaii. Hideki Matsuyama won the event, shooting 35-under-par 257 on the opening event of the Tour.

Hideki Matsuyama carded the lowest-ever 72-hole score in the history of the PGA Tour on Sunday, shooting an astonishing 35-under to win The Sentry in Kapalua, Hawaii.

The Sentry, a limited-field, no-cut signature event to kick off the PGA Tour's season, is down to the final round. There were originally 65 players eligible, but the tournament teed off on Thursday with 59 golfers. Only one will hoist the 35-pound trophy Sunday evening in Maui.

Matsuyama’s birdie on No. 18 gave him a round of 65 and the new record, previously owned by Cameron Smith (34-under, 2022 The Sentry). The top five, including Morikawa’s 32-under this week, have all come at The Sentry.
