The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) reported just after 2:40 p.m. that its officials were sent to the intersection of 71st Street and South Chappel Avenue to investigate an officer-involved shooting.

Police publicly identified the man who was shot and killed inside a North Portland motel this week as 41-year-old Philip Edward Redmon. Officers responded to the Super Value Inn on North Interstate Avenue near Killingsworth Street around 7:50 p.m. on Monday and found a man dead from a gunshot wound, Portland police said.

An armed suspect was fatally shot by police in southwest Santa Rosa early Thursday morning after hours of a standoff, authorities said.
