Northwest Naturals announced a voluntary pet food recall after an Oregon house cat died after eating a Northwest Naturals product that later tested positive for bird flu.

An urgent warning for pet owners has been issued after a cat died from eating food contaminated with bird flu. The Portland, Ore.-based company Northwest Naturals is voluntarily recalling bags of its "Turkey Recipe" raw frozen pet food.

According to the county Department of Public Health, the recalled products are packaged 2-pound plastic bags with "Best if used by" dates of May 21, 2026, B10 and June 23, 2026, B1. Pet owners were urged to immediately dispose of those products.
