Nvidia stock has been the poster child for artificial intelligence and continues to defy the odds. But is the stock still a buy?

For what it's worth, Wall Street is overwhelmingly bullish. Among the 65% of analysts who follow Nvidia, 92% rate the stock a buy and the other 8% rate it a hold ahead of the company's third-quarter earnings report. Not a single analyst recommends selling Nvidia at the present time. Here's what investors should know.

Also know that, unlike the S&P 500 or the Nasdaq Composite, the Dow is weighted by price rather than by market cap. Although Nvidia has an outsized influence on the movements of the cap-weighted benchmarks, at current prices NVDA stock will be as important to the DJIA as, roughly, 3M ( MMM ).
