By Parisa Hafezi, Phil Stewart and Maayan Lubell ISTANBUL/WASHINGTON/JERUSALEM (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said he had "obliterated" Iran's main nuclear sites in strikes overnight, joining an Israeli assault in a major new escalation of conflict in the Middle East as Tehran vowed to defend itself.

Trump said the U.S. hit the Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear sites. Iran’s top diplomat called the attack “outrageous” and said it would have “everlasting consequences.”
