OKLAHOMA CITY -- After pitching only one inning in the biggest game in Texas Tech softball history, pitcher NiJaree Canady watched the remainder of the game from the dugout. Canady, who started every game of the Women's College World Series for the Red Raiders finally hit her wall.

The final game of the season was one NiJaree Canady will hope to forget after the Texas Tech softball team lost to Texas in the WCWS finals.

Can Canady be the force who propels softball into the public consciousness? "What we’re witnessing is a renaissance.”

With two runners on, Canady elected to intentionally walk Texas catcher Reese Atwood. But on what was supposed to be ball four, Canady left her pitch out over the plate, and Atwood made her pay for it as she knocked in both baserunners and the Longhorns took the lead.
