Several Texas state House Democrats ripped up the written agreements that allowed them to leave the chamber with a police escort and returned to the House floor Tuesday night, the caucus announced.

“My constituents sent me to Austin to protect their voices and rights,” said Collier.

Democratic Texas state Rep. Nicole Collier, who was locked in the House chamber after refusing a police escort, faced a felony threat for taking a call about redistricting in the facility's bathroom.

Collier said having officers shadow her was an attack on her dignity and an attempt to control her movements.
