There’s a new Albus Dumbledore coming to the small screen.John Lithgow has confirmed that he will portray the Hogwarts headmaster in HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” series, which will begin filming this summer.

Cillian Murphy’s name has come up a lot, with rumors that he will play either Lord Voldemort or Professor Quirrell. “I May Destroy You” alum Paapa Essiedu is strongly rumored to be playing Severus Snape, while Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein has been named as a possibility for portraying Rubeus Hagrid.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Lithgow said that he has accepted the role of the Hogwarts head wizard in HBO’s forthcoming series: “I’ll be about 87 years old at the wrap party.”
