No I was and am a mere traveller myself! And you don't need the museum for this kind of info but the Archives - Google Jersey Archive - they have staff on duty to assist... I went with a similar question and found them tremendously helpful. If you make contact before your visit you can save a lot of time when you actually get there... Good luck with your search. Also you can try the Censuses online - you might find a bit out there too...
I would like to know if I can find out when I visit St Hellier next Spring whether I can find out anything about my great grandfather who was born there on 18th Feb 1839. His name was Thomas Alfred Davies and his father, Evan, was a British ship's surgeon. Evan too, my great great grandfather, was born in Jersey, 9th May 1791, and died there 5th Oct 1867. I have never been to Jersey and would love to find out where they lived and what I can find out about them. thank you for any advice you can give me Bronwyn Davies Professor of Education
